Everyone has been all wonderful on this site! Can’t thank you all enough.

So far, all the chickens in my flock have turned out to be hens, however, I still have this silkie who isn’t laying eggs yet… birthday was April 2022. It’s a bit of an outcast with the rest of the ladies. I’m wondering if maybe it’s a male? We noticed this comb on it today which is more prominent that we’ve noticed it in the past. I’ve heard silkies take longer to start laying in comparison to other breeds. My other girls, also born in April, have all been laying for months…

Agree, likely female nearing point of lay. My Silkies start laying around 8 months of age. It can though vary from 5 months to even over a year with some Silkies.😊

Oh really!? A year! I keep pretty close tabs on the girls and I’m fairly certain the silkie (Fuzz Butt is it’s name) is not laying. But I’m also learning that all the ladies may stop laying during the winter months? So maybe next spring “she” will start laying.
