So I noticed my only silkie had a very dirty butt so I wanted to clean her up a bit. When I cut away some of the poopy feathers, I noticed this green flakey stuff around the vent that kinda looked like mold. Then when I was almost done cleaning her up, she started moving around a lot and appeared to be struggling to breath. When I put her down however she started flailing around like she was having a seizure or something then a few seconds later she just stopped moving and died. Anyone know what could've been the problem? I have never seen anything like it. It was very weird.

I'm sorry about your hen :hugs

Without necropsy it would be hard to know what was ailing her. Do you still have the body so you can send it to your state lab? https://www.metzerfarms.com/poultry-labs.html

Great advice! This is a classic situation where I’d send a bird out for Necropsy; my worry for the other birds would be my 1st reason to get one, while my curiosity being a true 2nd as I’d go silly not knowing exactly what went wrong …
