someone is sending me 4 silke eggs in the spring and I wanted to know all I could about their personalities and laying qualitied. Ive heard that they are pretty poor egg layers but anyone have an average per week? but as long as i get one of them im happy. They are absolutely adorable

My silkie lays 6 out of 7 days. Eggs are small but so is she. Great yolk to white proportion that makes the best fried egg sandwich.

I don't think they poor egglayers, they just go broody often so when they are setting they arent' laying. Mine lay well as long as they aren't broody.

Are the silkie eggs smaller then the 1st. one I picked from one of my bantam hens ? LOOK at this . Large egg is from one of my barred rocks .... Little one is from a cochrin bantam

Little one is an 1- 1/2 long and large is 3 inches
