Silkie lovers how big for the nesting boxes?

I had absolutly no intention of getting silkies but you guys are contagious and somehow I caught the evil I gotta have em disease. So now I really need to know how big to make the nesting boxes so I can finish the silkie hut. P.S. DH is very upset because he just built me another hen house for more standards he says that I am in the dog house I mean hen house. So I really need to finish the silkie hut on my own so if someone could tell me the easiest way to build the nesting boxes I would really love it.

Milk Cartons work great for nest boxes. Loaded with Pine shavings, they have plenty of cushion and my hens love them. I imagine putting one on its side and building a 3 or 4 inch wall to hold in the shavings would help a silkie access the box. IDK... Good Luck hanging out in the Hen house.

I also need to know how high off the floor the nesting boxes need to be.
