Silkie & (maybe) Serama Hatch-A-Long

Humidity was down to 30% after work :barnie :(
I quickly added more water and some soaked paper towels....I hope they'll be ok.

#7 is also piped..but at a weird spot....will she be ok ??View attachment 4312840
The pip (edited) is a little lower than you'd expect, but not terribly off the mark.

If you're comfortable with assisting you could use the tip of a nail file, or something similar to chip a bit of shell on either side of the pip hole. Sterilize whatever you use with a bit of rubbing alcohol and add a bit of olive oil to the membrane to prevent it from drying out. Good luck!

Does it look like the skin has dried out and shrink wrapped ?
It has gone a little yellow....

Another question... humidity is no over 80...is that too high for Mop Bucket to dry ?

It's hard to say from a picture.

You could dab a bit of olive oil on the membrane if you're concerned about it.

I prefer a higher humidity during hatching and it will spike as chicks hatch. It may take a bit longer for them to dry, but the incubator is still warm so they should be fine. I'd rather it take a bit longer for hatched chicks to dry than have piped eggs shrink wrap.

Yes ok. Thanks for the advice!

Nr.7 was rolled over by Mop Bucket and the hole is now lying over the grid under which the water is...if nothing happens till later I might quickly check and save a little oil on 👍

I don't have any in lockdown until Friday so I'm hatching vicariously
