Hey everyone.. I live in Belize. Silkies are VERY hard to find here. A friend that works at the local feed store said the other location, about an hour away has silkies.. they seem to have 5 toes... but skin color on the bigger one is off... feather situation a mess on the smaller... at some point I had wanted to have silkies.. just for pets... not showing and egg production not a huge deal to me..what are your thoughts on these guys.. obviously it would not be these two, as im sure they are sold by now.. but the supplier would be the same...
any input would be greatly appreciated!

You can have silkied feathers without a chicken being a silkie (ex. silkied seramas, silkied ducks, etc) and if you just want them as pets it doesn't matter how "standard" they are or "appropriate" their looks are, if YOU like them go for it!

They're fully silkied feather wise, no half-feathers or anything so their parents both at least have silkied feathers, were they Silkie Bantams? No idea, although I doubt it since the big one has light skin. But again, if you want them as a pet and they're not charging an arm and a leg for "purebred silkie bantams" then I see no harm :D

The feathering on that small one is odd but I'm not quite sure the cause... I'd love inputs on others on what might be the cause of the sparse feathering :0

Thank you!! yes mix doesn't bother me.. I just mean, I know sometimes with inbreeding etc, it can take its toll healthwise.. since im pretty new to chickens thought I'd toss this out for some input.. im thinking they might have been in crowded conditions? thinking a well rounded healthy diet, and some love might improve their condition.
I had one other possibility but the people have Ionly 1 rooster and 1 hen.. she has no feathers on her back from over breeding...otherwise they looked pretty good. they are older... the 3 eggs a friend got for me never hatched in his incubator. (all other eggs hatched, just not the 3 silkie eggs)
