Hello,

My white Leghorn hen, Lily, has been laying fertile eggs, which we're pretty sure were fertilized by our white Silkie mix rooster, Sherlock.

Sherlock has 5 toes and strangely blue skin, as well as a walnut comb. He looks like a smooth silkie (Has super soft feathers)

I've saved up 5 of Lily's eggs and put them in the incubator Thursday (4/4). However, I was wondering what they would look like and if they would be sex-linked.

I read on the Leghorn x Silkie thread on BYC that chicks from a silkie roo and leghorn hen are sex-linked, with males having light skin and females having dark skin.

Does this apply with a Silkie MIX roo and a leghorn hen?

Thanks!

this does not apply on Mix roosters. why? because he only has one copy of the gene responsible for the black/dark skin and this means only 50% of his daughter will have black skin.... at least you will know that the ones with the black skin will be girls.... but only 50% of them will show this
