I have more abuse to report.


A fire broke out not far from my house and the circling planes and helicopters caused panic in the flock, all of the geese were running around the yard terrified and panting, and Beavis and Butt-Head here “Truffle and Sunbeam” decided this was the perfect opportunity for maximum chaos and started ATTACKING everyone! Chasing and nipping at the geese and the girl ducks!

I had to catch them and put them in duck jail today.

My girls met new people yesterday, they were given blueberries and they accepted them very happily. I have to say, they were very nice to my friends actually- Sprightly stared up at us at our feet very politely while we chatted. Thought to be honest I think she was more interested in whether there were secret extra berries rather than interested in the conversation.
Still, I'm proud of them for not yelling at us the whole time!

Was having such a nice bonding moment with everyone behaving so well when all these kids collectively decided to try to rip off my fingers and then run behind my chair, scare my adult duck who was sitting by me, and then jump in their water and splash both of us

The little girls started alerting that something was very VERY wrong. Estella, Avis, and Rosebud are doing some intense alarming croaks so I’m looking around thinking a fox is about to bear down on my poor duckies and I’m ready to wage war against the forest beasts on behalf of my feathered damsels…..and I see nothing.

The girls are still losing their minds on something, they scooted close to each other for security and are still alerting. I look to where they’re alerting and it’s something high up that they’re looking at.



So I start scanning the trees, thinking it’s a sneaky hawk or something sitting in the canopy, still I see nothing, and the girls are getting more panicked which is stressing me out because I’m wondering if whatever it is is getting closer but I just can’t see it…..and then I see it.







Turkey vultures way off up there, all that for specs.

The little girls are laying! I’ve been checking on them periodically trying to see who’s laying what, I suspect Avis “Black Swedish” is laying the silver eggs but I really don’t know for sure, I just checked on the nest again and there’s a whole pile so either I have five other ducks sneaking in and laying in there or these girls have been hiding eggs.
So far every time I’ve checked no one is on the nest, so I dunno.

Swedish eggs look light grayish white so yeah that’s your Black Swedish egg.
