I got this little one today and was told it is pure silkie but I have my doubts. It looks like it has a single comb to me but not as tall. Also any guesses to gender (I know it’s way too early most likely). Thank you in advance!

I know it is a silkie and young but for it to have a pea comb wouldn’t that typically be a rooster? At around 4 weeks old it seems a bit early for any type of comb :D

No. Females can get a little comb early. It's the color that matters, which can be hard to see in silkies. It does look like a mix, not pure silkie. I just hatched out some silkie mixes and boy are they cute! :) I hope your little one turns out to be a pullet, if that's what you're wanting.

Thank you so much for the reply. I apologize, it appears to have a straight comb, not the typical pea comb. Do pullets still show straight combs early on? That is awesome that you hatched some silkies. I think they are some of the cutest chicks!
