Silkie mix

I purchased 2 bantam chicks from a local feed store on the last days of March for my little girl's birthday. The chicks were only a couple of days old and I noticed that they had black shin and feathered feet. The store owner said they were mixed chicks that were brought into the store by a customer. I had a feeling that they were Silkie mix so I looked for five toes and found them. I am not a big fan of five toes so I picked the ones that had four toes, which was only a couple of them and then picked two from that bunch.

I have raised chickens all my life and have to admit, I have never owned a Silkie. The chicks a developing straight feathering instead of fluff. I am curious to see how they turn out. One is mostly white and the other is brown and tan with penciling in the feathers.

All silkie mixes, these all have 5 toes on one foot.

All have the same father there are three silkie*GLW (the other one looks like the first on in pictures)

and one silkie*Production/hatchery type RIR (Ghost)

My young Silkie mixes are about 2 months old and kept trying every way possible to get into the brooder with my newly hatched Blue Cooper Marans. I was worried that they might hurt the younger chicks. I had the lid off since it was so hot today. The Silkies found there way in. It's the weirdest thing. They just wanted to be with them. The Silkies were laying there comfortably with the BCM huddled up to them.
