I have about a 5 month old Silkie hen and she had some mites. We sprayed some Adams flea and tick spray on her and after we sprayed it on her she has not been doing to well. We gave her a bath to get the spray off and she seemed lifeless. We forced some water in her mouth and she seemed to be doing a little better. All she has done is sleep. She keeps sleeping and we just don't know what to do. Please I need some help, info., etc! We love this little chicken!!

feed her a mix of scrambeled egg and 1ml electrolites like pedialyte every hour! Till she can drink and eat on her own. Keep her indoors with you. I do not like pesticides on my silkies!! I will bathe only in a warm bath of ivory soap and water - no rinse and use food grade DE as a dusting. Good luck.

Was she fine before you sprayed her? Could be a bad reaction to the Adams. I've had silkies many years and used 5% sevin dust for mites with no ill effects. Let us know how she's doing. It could be something else.

She was fine before we sprayed her with the spray and we just don't know what to do? We just gave her another bath and she is breathing through her mouth. We need any advice!

Sounds like a reaction to the spray. What is okay for one can harm another. I would get her to a vet.

She is ok!!! She has been doing so much better!! We gave her some of that medicine and she was ok after that! Thanks so much for the help!

Oh that is wonderful!!! I meant to ask earlier but got sidetracked. What medicine did you use? I've heard for years about Adams being used without problems but thankfully never used it, and never will. So happy she pulled through.

We gave her 1ml of pedialyte every hour until she got better.
