Silkie not laying

I bought a splash silkie hen 10 days ago. She is suppose to be 1 1/2 years old. i have been feedinging her laying pellets and letting her free range in the daytime. My problem is, she hasn't layed an egg yet. I was hoping she would lay and hatch the first bunch.

Hmmm no comments! Well I"ll post an update anyway. Right after I wrote this my wife went outside and there was an egg! She did threaten to hang her on the wall next to my fish mount. So the next question is how long will the egg stay good? Should I leave it outside with her or refrigerate it?

If there is no rooster the egg will not be fertile.

If this hen was moved recently they go through stress and may not lay for a while. Silkies lay about 2 -3 eggs a week.
