Silkie not preening

We have 5 - 8 week olds. 2 silkies, 2 red stars, 1 bantam buff brahmas - the little white silkie doesn't seem to preen herself like the others do. She feels really rough, and has lots of feathers that feel like they need preening. We try to help her and pick at them and she doesnt' appreciate it. Any suggestions?

Is she a crossbeak? I know that crossbeaks can't preen themselves because their beaks aren't aligned properly.

No, I don't think so?? .. here's a couple pictures from a couple weeks ago.. Her beak looks normal to me

Seems to me she's at that age where the feathers are really trying to grow in, sometimes they grow faster than the preening can keep up!

mine did the same thing at that age. I think it's that they know there is no point! Now that they are older and most of their adult feathers in, they preen often, and are very soft!
