Silkie pure or mix? Pullet or cockerel?

The feathers are fur-like, but it just doesn't look as fluffy as the pictures I see of pure silkies on here. Maybe just a young'n that hasn't fluffed out yet?

A gorgeous silkie. Mine are about the same fluffiness, some are flurry, others not as fluffy. Can't tell if its crossed. Or whether it's male or female. However, on my cockerel silkie, he has a red crust on the top of his beak and his feathers on top of his head spike backwards. His tail feathers are like normal feathers too. My female looks like the one you have here so maybe this one is female? Silkie's are notoriously hard to sex.

I have pics on my profile of mine if you want to compare.

irs pure just a pq not sq

Forgive me for asking, but what does all of that stand for? I'm new to chickens as of two months ago and new to silkies as of this morning xD

Thanks for the compliments! I was at a bird swap this morning picking up s'more laying hens because I lost three chicks the other day when my dog got into the coop one night (never did figure out how the door got open) and I saw a cage full of buff silkies and I just HAD to get one. I don't even care if they lay tiny, useless eggs. So it really was just luck of the draw! I just grabbed the smallest one I could find in hopes that it would be a pullet.

Here's a dorky picture I took of myself with her on my webcam, lol. I'm referring to it as a "she" even though I don't know. I hope that doesn't lead to disappointment, haha. I love it no matter what!

Great pic! She's a lovely silkie, I'd say a girl personally as she's the same as my little red silkie.

I'd like to think that it's a girl. I want to call her Beatrice. I've been giving all of my chickens names of Shakespeare's characters ;) I don't see any kind of bud of a comb, so I'm leaning toward the pullet side as well, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. I really have turned into such a chicken derp since I got chickens almost two months ago--though I had been talking about having chickens for a year, so I guess I was already pretty dorky about them xD I enjoy taking funny pictures of myself with them, heheheheh :D

Here are some pictures my boyfriend took from our skype conversation a week or two ago:

They're of my little baby girl, Rosalind. She's a black sex link pullet.

If she has gray black skin and 5 toes on each foot most likely full silkie. Pq means pet quality were as sq means show quality...not to sure of the difference cause I'm fairly new to chickens myself... There's a book of standards for sq birds that have yet to get my hands on. Either way she he is adorable ... How old? They say its easier to sex them when they are 4 months o so. Or when they crow lol but silkie Roos get streamers coming in at around 4months... The crest (feathers on top of their head) on girls will look like a Pompom where as a Roos have spiky crest.... I am too trying to figure out sex on my silkies , so I hope she turns out to be whatever it is you want her to be :D

I actually have no idea on age! I forgot to ask the seller this morning =/ Boo on me. I guess I will just have to wait and see! I'm assuming it's 5-10 weeks old, but like I said, I'm entirely new to silkies so I could be wayyy off base! I don't plan on showing, so quality doesn't matter, fortunately. I'm far too new at this to get into showing just yet! Thank you for your help! Good luck in sexing your little guys!
