I have 2 white non bearded silkies, a roo and pullet. We are considering letting her hatch eggs in the spring. I am wondering....(I know little to nothing on the subject).....Will all offspring from them be exactly like the parents (white, nonbearded)??? Thanks for your help...

Hey!!
I still have 2 pullets, I just don't plan on letting both hatch eggs. Pray for no rain today!!!!! They are still in the dog cage (doing well). If it rains all I can do is cover them with a tarp. My coop is too small to put the cage in there for more than over night. We really like them. The roo is very quiet. He does not crow much at all (yeah). My daughter wants babies in the spring.....but then I have to figure out what to do with them....I don't have too much more room in the coop!!! I need an addition, I am sure my husband won't mind!

Good luck on that one. Silkies live to hatch eggs.

I don't think it is suppose to rain today but they predict rain for tomorrow. Hey, this is Michigan. The weather changes every hour so get that tarp ready and maybe it WON'T rain.

Good luck with your new babies. I hope they bring you much joy. OH, btw, what hen are you going to tell she can't set eggs?: cd

Just funning with you Jenn. Enjoy your new babies and it sounds like you fit right in with the rest of us.

Thank you Jenn. I think they are pretty nice birds for my first flock. I think I have 2 cockerels in the bearded silkies. If so, you are welcome to the one I don't need. I don't want to raise silkies, I just want silkies to set eggs from my standard chickens.
Yah, we all have heard those same names.

I think we are all crazy chicken ladies. I am not sure what the wives call their husbands though but I am sure the wives have something to say about them.
