Silkie Question

Hello-

I have 17 silkies and I was wondering if it is normal for silkies to have six toes. Forteen of the silkies have five toes on their feet, one has six toes, and the other one has five toes on one foot, and four toes on the other.

5 toes is the standard for silkies. 6 and 4 toe birds are disqualified.

As far as being normal...for pet quality birds, yes. For show quality and breeding to the standard....no.

The birds with 9, 11 or 12 toes can be used for breeding, but not showing.
