So today I was playing with the flock, watching my roos harass each other. You know...the usual. Well my precious silkie roo started clucking in a high pitch in rapid succession. While making this noise, he’d pick up a leaf, carry it around, drop it, and pick it back up again. He did this several times and all I could think about was the bird of paradise where they give a leaf to a potential mate. It was just interesting and was curious if anyone knew what he was doing. So, any ideas?

That is strange. Our roosters sometimes do the same thing, without their ladies around. I do not think it is behavior to worry over, though.

My white silkie roo “Prince Charming “ does this too. Sometimes for the ladies. But his girlfriend brownie hatched out some Easter eggers. He’s a proud daddy and shows them food and lets them play with him pulling on his feathers acting like they’re grooming him. Looked like they were giving him a kiss on the cheek. 😍

Has anyone noticed that the white silkie Roos are nice to baby chicks. Had a black one I had to get rid off because he was grabbing his own babies and slinging them (throwing)

I've had my rooster call me over for food like that before 😂 silly boy. It's so funny to watch the hens racing over.
And I've had a rooster that would keep calling over inedible things like sticks, or even a piece of plastic once. Of course I quickly stopped him from giving them that. It's actually really adorable though.
Beautiful picture by the way. So nice the rooster is helping raise the chicks.
