A co-worker gave my hubby a silkie roo a week before Christmas. I put him in with my 6 hens that are almost 1yr. old (red sex link, RIR, buff Orpington, 2 barred rocks, Isa brown). He was fine at first but now has been attacked twice. He's now in a small heated coop alone. I worry about him getting lonely. Trying to find a couple of silkie hens but it's taking awhile. Any suggestions on what to do next?

I would leave them to it, unless they draw blood/ he gets badly injured- it's just the chickens working out a pecking order. You could gradually introduce them to each other, letting them see each other through a fence, until they get to know each other. I've also heard that sneaking a new chicken into the coop at night (in the dark) works well.

Good luck.

How old is he?

How much space do your birds have?

Be more specific on "attacked". Injuries, or just harassing?
