How would a silkie roo do with standard hens? Have 3 8mo old hens (2 black marans and one barred mix), and am slowly introducing my babies, which include 2.5 mo old chicks (2 buffs, 1 salmon favorelle, 1 EE cockerel and 1 silkie cockerel). Don't plan on keeping the EE cockerel, but wanted to keep the silkie. Anyone do this before? Will it be bullied even though its a male? Don't really want fertilized eggs, but will it actually mate with the hens? If we let some hatch, what would that look like?

Thanks!

I ended up with two silkie roosters that I was hoping would be hens. YES they will try to mate with your hens. My poor girls experienced nonstop sexual harassment. My two hens spent most of their time running away from them, one is a bantam EE and the other one is a full size EE. Would make for some interesting looking chickens if you did hatch some fertilized eggs. I think it would be cool. Its hard to mix chickens. Im trying to do that right now, got a couple of newbies Im trying to integrate with my senior citizens and my older girls are NOT happy...

My ex and I had a silkie rooster with a bunch of various standard hens ranging up to a light Brahma in size. He took wonderful care of his ladies and he was very good at fertilizing and making (not super attractive) babies 😂 that rooster had no problems at all.

What kind of eggs do hens that had a silkier dad and EE hens lay?
