Onyx,
This is my first year with chickens. Got our first RRs in april. The I got 2 silkie chickens late july, they were almost a month old when I got them. 3 months ago I sent one of them back to the farm because he was crowing! Now the other is sounding like a duck squeeky toy that's been stepped on. The person I got them from said they were both female but it's looking like they were both roos. She did take the first back and replaced it with what she thought was a hen now the older one is crowing. UGH! Just when I was starting to look for the first egg! I really love this one but don't want any roos! So docile more like a lap dog than a chicken, really patient with my kiddos too. The pictures don't do justice, this one has beautiful teal green/blue feathers on part of the tail feathers and mid section. What does everyone think, how do you tell if its a roo? Onyx is a little over 6 months old.
