This is the first and only time I have ever found a Rooster Silkie with a puff on his head. They always look so ugly and to me, seem like a quality that should be removed and not accepted. When a hen has a Roo puff, no one wants her, but the Roo can be so ugly?!
This is Sonoran Silkies Silkie Roo that is said to be "henny", to me, we should all be trying to get at least his puff!
In general, his feathering are far more pretty and silkied and fluffy, I'm wondering if this is not the real Silkie they were trying to make back in the day. I would much rather they all looked like this than have a thinning and balding look of a head and their combs/wattles bulbous and obvious.
I'm going to stop myself, I just found a breeder who has these near perfect beauties! Now this guy is on the right track!
RooptyDoo
I guess I'm just seeing a lot of Roos that could be better. I don't mean to insult or anything, just that I'm hoping this is something breeders are working towards and not just settling on. It would be a real shame to do so. I just can't believe [IMO] that bad/off puff is so common and seems to be standard.
Please let me know if this is something that is still being worked on or is in fact accepted and the norm.
Also, sorry for posting your pics here w/o asking, hope you can forgive me.
