I live in the city limits of Cincinnati and therefore have to find a new home for a silkie rooster. He's has a very sweet temperment and will eat from your hand. He is black with a little grey and is 19 weeks old. Please let me know if you would be willing to take him as soon as possible. Thank you!

Hello fellow cincinnatian! I also live in the city and need to rehome my easter egger too. Did you have any success finding a home for your boy? I am looking for ideas to avoid the soup pot solution.

Hello! What part of Cincinnati are you in? I actually went through two rounds of giving away roosters. Most of my roosters went to a family up near Jeffersonville. The silkie rooster mentioned in this post was a bit of a late bloomer (2 months later!), but I was able to find a family for him. Both times, I was able to find people by posting on craigslist (as sketchy as craigslist can be, the farm and garden section seems to be pretty tame). To avoid people who'd want to use your rooster for cock fighting, a lot of people suggest asking for $5 or $10 for the rooster, but I didn't have any luck with that. Instead, I emphasized how the rooster was used to being held, was very gentle, and would eat out of my hand (all of which are true) so that any cockfighters would see that my roosters were not aggressive. I also looked for rooster wanted ads on craigslist- that's how I found the first family. I didn't have much luck on this forum, but it's worth posting. Also, have you found the Cincinnati Backyard Chickens forum? That's how I've met several other chicken owners in our area. It's a yahoo group- just search for it online. You have to request to join. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Thanks! I actually just got a call from a friend of a friend who as luck would have it is looking for an easter egger. They have a small farm in nky so happy ending! We are in Linwood. We got our first batch of chickens this past spring.
