Hi! I recently purchased a silky rooster and hen and one of their baby chicks. They were all in enclosed area when I got them together however when I got them home and they are out in the run together, the rooster keeps pecking the hen and the baby. Right now I have him separated. Any suggestions as to what to do?

Is he quite young? Sounds inexperienced.

Yes, thinking I’m going to have to do that. He hasn’t gotten any better. How long should I separate him? Couple of weeks?
Longer. Roosters can get quite fiesty. Until the chick can protect itself. 10 weeks at best. 6 weeks should be fine, but there is a risk. Your cockerel does not sound very mature, so I would try to seperate him in a dog crate in the coop, so the chick and him can see, but not have physical contact.
