So, I have this rooster and I like him very much.

His body type looks nice for my untrained eye, to much hard feathers to my liking but he's partly EU silkie.

But, does anyone have a guess what color he is? He was born a partridge with the chipmunk markings, so I'm guessing he's a partridge. But he has a lot going on with his colors :')

What hens would you put with him for nice colors? I've now put him with my silver partridge hens.

Also, would his tail be seen as a squirrel tail?

He appears silver partridge with Autosomal Red, & a large amount.

He does have squirrel tail, but I wouldn't worry to much about it, most silkies have squirrel tail.
I'll have to check to see if it's a disqualification in the SOP though.

Thank you! I was thinking that too :)

I actually wanted to use him in a calico project penn :) but I would like to breed nice splashes before trying out the calico color. So I've just put him with the silver partridges, because I don't have any roo for them...

What do you think about the white leakage? He also appears to have a lot of hard feathers.

The white you're seeing is due to silver.

I too want to breed calicos, I have 2 blue partridge hens, & 1 blue partridge rooster. They should make some nice Splash Partridges/Calicos.

If you have hens with Pom pom tails(Soft tails), you should be able to produce some males with softer tails too.

Yes all my other hens have pom pom tails, he's the only silkie with that amout of hard feathers in my flock.

Ooh, very interested in what you will get from that combination!!

I was probably going to try the splash x buff way, so with the red leakage.

But I recently commented to my friend that splash partridge looked more like calico than the splash with red leakage :') But to get splash partridge, the only option is blue partridge right?

What would happen if I bred him to my splashes? Would that get me blue partridge?

Chicken genetics is confusing :') should have paid more attention in class.

You can possible do Silver Splash Calico.
If I remember correctly, partridge needs two copies to express, so first generation Splash X Silver partridge would produce leaky silver blues, with the Autosomal Red. So you'll have to breed the offspring together, or back to the father to get partridge. Breeding to father would produce both blue silver partridge, & silver partridge.
