ok its my hen ive had her roughly 2 years maybe a year and a half.hatched her and everything was fine.her like all my other chicks lay there eggs and leave the nest.and everyday we collect eggs.now for the last week she hasnt left one of the nesting boxes.not even to eat or poop.ive tried to pet her and she trys to peck me,so i leave her alone.she never comes out.is there something wrong with her?dont want to loose her.she never ever stayed in the box for this long.

Silkies are very broody and are often surrogate mothers.

Get her some eggs to hatch, sounds broody to me!! Just make sure that you take her off the nest at least once a
day and put her near the food and water. I no that when my silkies go broody they will sit for days without eating or
drinking so I always make them get up at least once. They eat real fast, get a drink and right back to the nest they go.

You are gonna have fuzzy butts.

Like the others said, get her some eggs to hatch out. I made my EE get up every other day to drink, eat, and POOP, and boy do they. Hugh stinky poop, so don't freak when you see that for the first time. They don't want to go in the nest.

If you don't have a roo, then you need to find some fertile eggs, or let her sit for a few weeks and then give her some chicks. There is a way to break the broodiness, check on BYC. I have never done that and there is varying success.

Good luck and enjoy

well we took her out of the box and no eggs it took her a min to get up and walk around.she ate a little and drank some water.her boyfriend was strutting around her it was cool.i put a couple eggs in the nest and she went back to it.thanks for the help.
