Silkie thread!

ARRGGHH! I have white and black/Lav split silkies & showgirls in the bator and this last day always kills me with suspense! I go nuts waiting! LOL I swore I would not use a bator again and here I am! I had a heck of a time with the temp spiking in my new bator but I am hoping I caught it in time each time! I have 2 pips so far out of 11.

Similar but not genetically equal.
A Silver Partridge in Silkies should be "eb/eb S/S * S/-"
A Silver Quail should be "eb/eb S/S * S/- Co/Co Ml/Ml" . The "Co" (= Columbia) make in this case the cheast almost white (without black-pigment), the "Ml" (Melanotic) intensifie the black-pigment.
She is still very young and have not yet changed feathers.

Going on looks alone...the genetics code is WAY over my head..

order the book (if still available) at chickencolours.com It explains the genes in a very easy to understand manner. Henk's Chicken Colours and Basics is a good online intro to chicken genetics.

You open your photo on your PC and than go to "extra" there you find "annotate" that give you different options for working on the photo.

This really depends on the photo viewing/editing programs you have on your computer. I do not have ones that work las described. For example, I have no "Extra" or "Annotate" options.
