Silkie thread!

Hello - I'm new to Silkies and wanted to share a few pics of my 7 wk old babies and ask a couple of questions from the experts.

The first three look (and act) a lot different than the last - more assertive, larger combs and less poofy - could this be an indication of gender?

The little white one is often off on her (?) own and is a little smaller than the other three....but I haven't seen the poor things eyes in a couple of weeks, maybe that's why she's always lagging behind? She is the only one I've bathed so far - had some trouble with vent getting gunked up several times. As you can see her head is pretty dirty, as well - I've been afraid to soap her top up, though - is this something I can do safely? (I used diluted dishwashing liquid on the rest of her). I considered giving her a trim in the vent area and around her eyes so she can see - can I just trim away or is there something I should be aware of?

Thanks!

I thought I would post some pics of my newest additions!

These are my little 1 1/2 week olds. All are silkies except the bigger white one with the yellow beak is a silkie/leghorn cross.

By all means trim the feathers around her eyes. I have a small white silkie who just didn't grow. I realized that she couldn't see where to get the food and the others pushed her out of the way. If I hadn't discovered the problem and trimmed her pouf I think she would have starved to death. She is now eating and competing fine, but she will always be smaller than the others I believe.

The first two are boys...the second two, well the last white one, is a girl, but need a better comb shot of the partridge one.

Trishmk---your chicks are so cute! Your photography is wonderful, too. You must have a great camera.

Newtofarming--your babies are adorable, too! It's amazing how quickly they change.

Trishmk-here are my guesses!!

1- buff cockeral
2-splash cockeral
3-partridge - could go either way based on the pictures but to be safe I am guessing cockeral
4-white pullet

They are all very beautiful!

I want the book I've been very good this year. I haven't flipped out on any customers for at least a month, week whatever
