I really need to mess with her more, but she's so attached to my boy, Koda, she doesn't like it when I take her out without him.

That's too cute she has a boyfriend:D
 
We had super hot and humid weather here in Missouri this year too. Many days of 105 or better. I have lots of time to watch the chickens, and what surprised me the most is where they all wanted to be. I also had misters going in the run area, and in the yard too for the birds that get to free range. All of the birds avoided the wet areas! What they did head for was shade, and a good dust bath. It's not like the dirt under the dusting areas was cool, it hadn't rained for weeks, they wanted the dry dirt! Seems to me when it was the most hot and humid is when they did this, like they were trying to get rid of the humidity. I also made sure they had cool water for drinking, putting frozen jugs in their water pans, or just changing the water out several times a day. I have no electicity near the coop, so no fans were running. I have a secure, completely enclosed run (wire top too), so I left the windows and doors of the coop open at night. I was lucky, I didn't lose one chicken this past year due to the heat.

I had to use tarps to create shade as we are prairie out here. But if you have your pens under trees or in the shade-- that's the first step!

When my chickies r not feeling well I mix peanut butter w honey and egg yoke together I also add milk to make it a little watery. The honey has natural Antibiotics and gives them an extra boost of energy becuse of the sugar in the honey. The yoke is for fat and the PB for protein. I hope this helps hun

what a great idea...i will give this a try this weekend...i really wan ther to thrive and get better as she seems fine otherwise...
