Silkie thread!

Here are the 5 blue silkie chicks I ordered, 3 of them are blue and 2 look white one of them has little blue grey patches, so what did i get? will they all be blue? How do I correct the little chicks foot in the middle front?

Did someone sell you that chick with the curled toes without telling you? If so, that is very unethical. Curled toes can be a difficult problem.

No they came in an order from a hatchery, If it not blue I wasn't going to use it in the breeding i plan on doing because i didn't know if it was genetic or not. They came from Welp and I ordered Blue, will it cause it problems in the future if I cannot help it he/she is only 2 days old.

The ones with the patches will probably be splash,

They are beautiful. Just check the toes on one, it's probably just the way he is standing, top picture, the white one.
if the toes are curled like that, you'll need to tape them up.

Yes they are cured I noticed that when i was checking babies out after they arrived at 5 am this morning. how do I tape it, never taped a feather footed kiddo before!

I would use any kind of bandaid-strength sticky stuff, lie a piece sticky side up, and try to get him to stand on it with the toes in the correct position.
Then fold it up over the top, and trim around the outside, like mittens in kindergarten.
It's gonna take a few tries, hopefully they will stretch and stay in the correct position.

Oh, I'm such a dope, I saw that you posted it in the first pic.

Good luck, they can be squirmy!

Blue to blue breeding should produce some splash. That is not incorrect. Here is a photo of a chick I taped. Cloth bandaids work well. I put tape on top and bottom. Leave several days. Unfortunately my chick faded and only lived about a week but others do survive.

The top tape did not stay on after a few days but it still worked. You should get a refund on that chick.

You can wrap the chick carefully in an ace bandage and leave its feet sticking out so you have two hands to work with.

There was someone on here that posted about fixing chicks feet that curled under with a tiny piece of cardboard cut out in the shape of the foot and then used medical tape (or a bandaid would work) and taped the foot to the cardboard to make the toes lay flat. They called it a chick shoe, I believe. You can search for it here to look for pictures, but it was really very simple and looked easy to make.

Sanna, there's a show in Sparta, NJ on May 19, the Sussex County Poultry fanciers.
Alot of us peeps will be there if you want to go. It's a great show, and one of the closest ones to you, depending on where you are.
Roberta

I live in Connecticut, East Haddam. Sparta, NJ would be a little too far to drive.
There are local fairs that I thought about going to. Is there a big difference between a real poultry show and a fair? Other than quality of birds, just a guess?

Yes, a difference.
My last fair, I could enter mutts, and they still got ribbons...
It just takes time, as there really isn't alot around us.
How close are you to West Springfield, MA?
There is a fantastic show at the Big E, but that is in January.
It's a biggun, there were I think around 2,600(?) birds there this year.
I went with 7, and came home with 22.
At the end of the month, I am going to Harrington, DE., just past Dover Downs.
After a while, it will grab your heart, and you will have to travel to them all!
