Silkie thread!

More pictures! lol

That's the whole gang as of now, all 8 of them. One more splash trying to make it's way out of the egg as I type.
Is it normal for a buff to come out with pink feet or did I just get one with pink feet? I've never had a buff before.

Then we have the "three stooges", the little partridges. lol
They're all different colors. The one on the left here, the one that's greyish, that's the one that came out of the paint egg.

And here the "paint" is on the left.

Is there any way of telling what colors these little ones will turn out to be when they grow up?

I wanted to post some pictures of my breeding paints. I am so lucky to have gotten these and thanks to Hawkeye for helping me not miss such a great bunch

I have 3 paint girls over one black roo.
This is Elvis. I almost passed on him but when Hawkeye saw his picture and was
droolin.gif
and got him. And it is working out beautifully so far.

Here is Veronica. She literally just hatched the one egg she came home with. Got her name from the middle part of ann"ver"sary.

Here is her chick

This is Ann. Her name comes from Anniversary. Since all these new paints were my anniversary present.

This is Suri. Yep her name comes from the last part of anniversary(the sound of it not the spelling)

I also got 2 porcelain pullets. I kept their names as is.
Penelope. First the breeder thought cockeral, but someone told her pullet so penelope may turn out to be a Pete, but that okay since I do need a male. This one is a little on the lighter side for porcelain.

Here is Patunia :

I did try to take photos of my 4 grow out paints and my 4 porcelains and this is what I got:

They all flew off the table and I had to go and catch them... that was fun in the heat so I just skipped it.

No you don't want pink skin, its not normal. Its not unusual for them to have light to olive or slate legs and darken with age (buffs) but pink? no - not good.

They are 'partridge' chicks. even 'regular' partridge from a partridge breeding pen there is no way to tell how, what color/shade they'll turn as they age. I have had partridge patterned chicks hatch out of a BBS breeding, some turned blue (someone elses birds) but my own, someone threw partridge and the chicks actually grew up partridge and throw partridge offspring. Partridge go through ALOT of phases as they age, they are extremely unpredictable from day olds to weeks old to months olds to final maturity

That just figures. The only buff egg and it came out with pink toes. lol Oh man.....!

Now I just have to find some patience and wait to see these little partridges grow up to see how they'll turn out.
Thank you!

Despite the 'fat' comb, I still say its a girl - the crest shape, the body shape/type, low carriage - all feminine, the 'light' color is what you want on a porcelain actually you want them a tad lighter than this girl. The muted/paler color is typical in girls as well...

Here is Patunia :

Petunia I would bet money is a boy. Tall/leggy, just an all over 'not filled out appearance' - the crest shape, tail shape, taller carriage, and 'bolder' 'darker' color - what you see on males. I also see what appears to be streamers in the back of the head, and the hackles are lengthy already spreading to sit on the shoulders - a boy trait.
