Here is a picture of one of my favorite splash juveniles. Splash can have an almost white back ground to a medium blue background.

Not frost, it's food mostlyWell, Marge Best is just awesome. I went to get a replacement for the chick we lost last night, and she gave me two. A Dark Partridge and a very Dark Blue. So now we have 5 Silkie chicks. Yay
That's great!
So, one of the Silkie chicks has a head twitch. I have read that this seems typical with Silkies. It could be a vitamin issue too? Gonna get some Polyvysol(sp) tomorrow. Can others weigh in and reassure me here?

I have another question... some of you guys told me he is gray...but there is no gray color. Is he splash? I thought he was. I thought "gray" was called blue as well. As just a lighter smoky black. Thanks for the help!

I think I understand. He has a lot of white on him. As opposed to Mama Hen Chris'. Mine isn't as evenly grey throughout like hers.
Thanks for the info on the different colors! Splash is just spotted back and white then?

Congratulation on your new babies.... can't wait to see them all dry lol
The little guy on the up turned jelly jar is first hatched. Twelve hours old as I write this. Second vaulted scull chick is #4. #5 hatched a just a bit ago. One pipped egg left will give me six chicks in twelve hours. I'll leave the hatcher going with the remaining five eggs until tomorrow morning then pull the plug. I've been keeping hatch day notes on each chick as it comes out and how long it takes for them to lift their head or stand erect. Even though they are all white silkies I have meticulous notes to tell them each apart already. I see no culls so far. All have black skin, slate beak, five toes each foot with well spaced digits. Black eyes and alert, vigorous, chirping, and moving around inside the hatcher. It's been a happy hatch day!![]()
