Silkie thread!

That is why I am gonna do two pens. The BBS for standard and the porcelain/ buff pen for project with the porcelain. I will also be able to have both, I have buff and a porcelain pullets. Just need a buff rooster later. Since I don't want to work with whites, my white pullet is going to be an incubator/pet. I have a blue cockerel and black pullet. Actually they are my wife's Silkies, but I am in charge of care and breeding.
Wow, how did your wife work that!!!!

I do the chickens, she fell in love with a Silkie cockerel at the fair in Aug and I decided to get her 5 for an early Christmas present at the beginning of Dec. M Best lives a few miles away so I got them from her.

My work schedule(graveyard) allows me to take care of the chickens. She loves them all and helps when she can. Not trying to brag, but I am within driving distance to Catdance, Sheryl Butler, and Utasol(sp)

I dont think I am within an easy drive of any silkie breeders :) Working and caring for animals is always harder. I am lucky to be retired so that is most of what I have to do. I am so anxious for spring/summer to get here so i can spend more time outdoors. I am enjoying growing up some partridge winter babies and will have some white chicks in a week or so. I have my new blacks settling in.. lots of exciting stuff going on.

I gave a bath to my sick silkie, the one who has skin problem, mites or whatever it is and realized she doesn't have any turquoise ear. How come? All the others have it, why doesn't she has it? h She comes from a reputable breeder, so I know she is not a hatchery or a poor quality chick.
The oatmeal bath treatment, tick shampoo, ivermectin seem to help a little bit, but she still look awful. I don't know what else I can do for her.

I think Macho wants to come live with her.

Very, very nice girl! She is gorgeous!!!!
I took some quick snap shots of the guys this morning before running in to teach kids how to ride.

Picture quality is not good and colors are way off in most shots.. I'll get better pictures when I have more time.

Ace all of a sudden looks like a rooster! It's amazing how quickly it happened. I swear, it happened over night. One day I went out to see my chickens and he looked like this. They're 6 months old now.

Even my white pullet is starting to look really nice. I wasn't sure if she was going to turn out like anything but I'm glad she did. Only thing I'm upset about is that she has no feathers on her middle toe.

I'll never breed her and I can't show her so I probably won't keep her. Such a bummer. I don't have the space for a white rooster.

We have some chest here too. Finally! lol Look out Macho!

Dopey cockerels having a disagreement.

Here's Iris, looking pretty good outside with her new friends. Colors terribly off, doesn't do her any justice, but this was the only good shot I got so far. She posed for a split second and the rest was all "butt in my face".

Nice chest!
Your girl is lovely... love that butt lol.
