I think nustock is a sulfer and vetericyn is a different ingredients, I could be mistaken as I am not familar with the nustock. the vetericyn is for birds along with cats ,dogs rabbits etc.kills 99.999% of bateria, viruses, fungi, spores, e-coli, mersa, step, moraxella bovis, pasteurella, actinomyces, and pseudomonas aeruginosa. it is steroid free, antibiotic free, and will not harm healty tissue. worth a shot. just trying to help you . take care ....

t this may have been done already, but did you put a bunch of DE down with the pine as well? Its a really good bug killer. I make sure to dust as much as i can in the coop with it. I also do the ramp, and underneath it along with a little in their food, on the ground around the food.....
I even use it in my veggie garden!
I always add a lot of DE in their coop and run. I use it more as a preventive though.
I had a major out break of lice last year and I used the adams flea tick lice spray for puppies to get the majority of the lice, not sure if it would work for mites tho. fingers grossed for you.
I will probably buy some spray in the future.

Thank you, I really appreciate your help. I need to go to the feed store, so I will ask them if they carry it. I just hope it is not too expensive because I have been spending so much money to fix her (around $150). Good thing I don't tell all my expenses to DH

Well, yesterday I decided to remove all the hay from the silkies runs and change it for some pine shaving (under it it is dirt). The runs are covered, but if it rains heavily the sides get wet (so the pine shavings would get a bit wet). I was thinking instead of pine shaving could I use sand (cheaper). Is it a good idea?

My Sheryl Butler hatched white chicks turned eight weeks old and two of the four got a first bath today. It went fairly well. They are covered in pin feathers so I didn't give them a thourough rub a dub dub. Got the heaviest gunk off of them for new update pictures.
I sexed them when they were a week old and my first hunch is still accurate.

Mr. Wiggin at four weeks.

Miss Peggy at four weeks.

Miss Peggy at eight weeks today.

Mr. Wiggin at eight weeks old today.

I have paired them because he is gentle with her. Had to remove them from the grow out pen with the other chicks because they were picking out her muff and beard feathers.

Together. Their faces are still slightly dirty, but oh well. They behaved themselves very well through the whole ordeal.

I just posted in a separate thread but i was hoping it would go here. I want to know if having Silkies and Bantam Cochins together - same coop/run would be ok ? I don't plan on having many - my first time having chickens. I can't make up my mind which breed of chicken , so I thought, hmmm maybe i could have both ? ... would these 2 get along ? Thx Michele

Hatch total ended up being 7/10. I culled two from those 7 because of leg issues, the poor things could barely walk and kept flipping over on their back (not spraddle leg--it's some joint issue I haven't been able to correct). But I let them all enjoy a day in the sun with their Mom before I did. One of the culls had completely yellow legs, really weird because none of my birds ever had yellow legs as chicks. Anyway, the rest are very cute and I'm looking forward to seeing them mature.

Well, Parmesano passed while I slept. I am gonna do a necropsy and see if there are tumors causing this. Someone that lives close to me that got 7 M Best chicks soon after me only has 1 chick remaining. They lost an average of one a week. So there is something going on in her lines.

What an adorable picture!! I have not been able to correct that joint ( I have also been told a slipped tendon) issue. :( I hate losing chicks. Congratulations on the new babies !!!
