Silkie thread!

I got my first Silkies today. I believe: 2 gray/blue, 2 Partridge, 1 red. There is also a Polish in with them.

Do you want/need fertile eggs for a test run? I can bring you everything I collect today, should be 4-6 eggs. They would be mixes. I could take all the chicks that hatch back if you don't want them.

I do have a bck up LG I have hatched with before. It seems to be keeping steady temps so far since I plugged it in. I was going to keep it plugged in for 24 hrs at least. Is it super important to do a test run?

Pam, on one of the silkie threads I subscribe to (it may have been this one or the breeding showing thread), someone had this in every one of their eggs and none hatched. I don't remember having this and I can't say for sure, as I'm not that experienced with the incubation process. I think it was PeepBlessed that suggested maybe not locking them down yet so the eggs had more time for something to do with the air cell (sorry I can't remember exactly - but it was all of the eggs, not just one). If you are on day 17 you will know soon.

Immunized the chicks today for Maereks and lost one dang it it's one I had planned on keeping but can't take a chance of loosing the whole lot of them.

Where do you get your Mereks vaccination? Do you have to purchase a large ammount every time? My local feed store doesn't carry it.

I think I'm going to risk it. If I have a melt down you can say," I told you so" lol. I know, I hope Mumsy doesn't buy them all and make me have to wait another week for mine It will be like our chicks are bros and sisters tee hee
