If she already has chicks she may take them if they are the same age.I have a quick question guys... sorry I've been a bit MIA.
I gave my silkie a RIR egg, I had 2 LF eggs also in the house in the incubator. Would she take the 2 chicks I hatched out here in the house? Do most silkies readily take chicks they didn't hatch out, or would she kill it?
she currently has 1 chick that hatched out last night.
I also use a couple of rabbit hutches for breeding pairs but be mindful of predators. My hutch had 1/2" hardward cloth and a raccoon pulled off every toe but one on my best hen. It was a terrible night mare for her. I now have a solid bottom under the wire and 1/4" hardware cloth on the sides. By the way, someone told me that a dog did the same thing to one of their chickens.
Beautiful wings and feet!Chickies are growing feathers! I love little shredded chick wing feathers, they are so soft.
Foot feathering is awkward, in between fuzz and feathers in some places, but is still looking nice. This chick could use better toe spacing on its left foot, though. Please excuse my arm.
And of course, faces are coming along adorably. love those fuzzy cheeks and heads (i'm not sure why the skin looks green in this pic, it's not in person)
Also, my rough looking hen dried off today![]()

No.Question.
Are you able to feather sex Silkies?
I was sure you would name it Muffin.
Love it!
If the same age, tuck it in at night.I have a quick question guys... sorry I've been a bit MIA.

A change in their diet can bring on diarhea, so make sure she stays well hydrated. If your worried, you can deworm them if you like. I use wazine but you can't eat the eggs for at least 14 days after you give it. Also give probiotics and electrolytes, it will help. Especially if you deworm them.I am a new silkie owner...new chicken owner, in fact. I got 4 6 month old hens from the same breeder. One of them has had what looks like diarrhea (actually squirts every time) since I got her 9 days ago. Should I be worried? Any suggestions or solutions?
