Silkie thread!

I'm going to search for this shampoo later at Target. I want to try it on my leghorn too. Her feathers are yellowing a bit too. I'm just wondering how to get them to sit for 5 minutes with the soap on!

They actually sit pretty well. I can leave mine in the sink and walk away for the 5 minutes and not worry about them jumping out. I have found most chickens will just sit in the soap, in fact I JUST bathed a new 2 year old brahma I just got in the tub the same way I do my silkies, she only really jumped around when I was wetting her and putting the soap on, when I let her soak she just sat there.
That was a good read, thanks!

Do you HAVE to trim/file silkie's beaks/nails?
You don't HAVE to, but it's good for them. Especially the 5th toe, that nail never touches the ground so the nail grows very long and can eventually curl back into their foot if left too long. Also I find my silkies beaks grow pretty long.

i followed a how to wash your silkie video, also i also looked at how to bath ur silkie thred, but mine got really cold(shivering, panting, and and her body was all frozen up. I didnt do any thing wrong, and i shes full gron and i had to put her under a heat lamp in the house. Has this happend to anyone else... and do you have any tips?

Well, I went to get a cochin and an araucana chick... but I came home with this lovely lady haha! Not sure on her quality, she is in awful condition. Just gave her a bath. I was going to get the chicks, but when I went to look at the flock I was pretty disappointed. The Cochins were hatchery and not fluffy at all, and the "araucanas" were just plain old olive eggers

so I saw her brahmas and she said they were for sale too so I brought the best looking one home. She's pretty friendly and was good for her bath and blowdry, at least as good as I could expect her to be.

They do that. They aren't cold they are just kind of shut off. You can blowdry them if you think they are cold but after they fluff back up they are find again and get over themselves.

My polish roo is really bad, and he looks like he is going to pass out, but he is being a baby.

This is cotton my white silkie bantam. I trimmed her feathers around the front of her head so she could see while free ranging. I did this in January. I have a show to attend at the end of October. They have been growing. Do y'all think that they will be grown back out by then. I will get a better picture tomorrow.
