Silkie thread!

I think its because Silkies can both be purchased from a hatchery under "Silkies" and they are also listed in the Bantam section as Silkies... they are the same size bird and they come from the same bin at the Hatcheries when they are shipped.   Feed stores and places like Wilco and Tractor Supply Company mark on the boxes what they are told from the Hatcheries.  Just check out their "Rhode Island Reds", "Barred Rocks" and "Americaunas"... they are not accurate.   At least the Silkies are actually still Silkies.. even if they are usually very poor quality (but still sweet birds).  Overseas they have two sizes and some people have been talking about importing the larger ones - but they will not be available from anybody except a breeder.

Thanks to Suzierd, Nola, Golden feather & jmanderson for your comments. Jm he really is dirty Some of his bottom foot feathers are brown. Loved your humorous comments! I bought his dad from a breeder that shows. She had too many white young roos she had saved for show so was willing to sell him. I raised my females from her stock also. He looks a lot like his dad. For many months I thought he was a female. Love these Silkies!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I was pretty sure he is a "he", but since these are my first and oldest silkies and the other started crowing so early I wasn't sure. We have two blue and a splash that are just a week old now, but I'm hoping at least one blue and the splash will be girls so I can have a B/B/S pen. :)

Sanna, your paint roo is just gorgeous. Same with all the other pictures! Our silkies technically belong to my 11 yr old daughter (I have barnies) but I think I'm enjoying the silkies more than she is! Haha! They sure are cute and sweet.

Thanks again!
Shanna

Can anyone help me with my problem
My incubator instructions says that an hour after the light on my incubator starts to flash (wich means the temperature is stabilising) the themometer that came with my incubator should read 100F and it does but the other themometer I bought and compared to other mercury thermometers so I could calibrate it only reads 90F , should I change the temperature or trust the themometer that. Came with my incubator
