Super cute =D Do you have pictures of their combs? Sometimes females can get red too but it's the size that is a real good indicator. Schism does have pretty prominant waddles, but Maynard does not.
[/quoteMmm, thinking the same.... My Speedie has a red comb but is pure girlish girl now she is 6months. Also noticed same thing on my up and coming 3mth old chicklets that are looking more and more girl every day. Fingers crossed is all u can do.

They are just adorable chickens! My sons been sick so I haven't gotten out there with the real camera just been taking a few shots with my phone.

Cute name. Next time I have a white cockerel I may decide to name it Castle--as in White Castle. Of course he would need a "Hamburger" or "Slider" to go with that theme...

Thanks! My 5 yo named her. I think it sets the stage for a theme with the rest of the silkies.. I'm thinking names such as Buckingham, Elizabeth, the buff i've decided will be Prince Harry, As long as the porcelain is a pullet I will name her Kate and on and on lol. .. White Castle .. I LIKE IT!

Thanks! Of course as with all chicken projects when I dreamed it up it was going to be a 1 or 2 weekend project.. of course there was a lot more to it then I thought.. We are still working on landscaping and steps up to the door with pebbles in them.. The possibilities are endless!

I'm starting to wish I had done show-quality eggs instead of hatchery chicks now... LOL. I wonder how all of my puff balls will turn out!

Not too late! Most of us started with hatchery birds.

Here's my dumb question of the day... About how old are silkies when they're full grown? As big as they're gonna get? I feel like my 2ish month olds haven't gotten any bigger in a while, just floofier

My girls are usually grown at 6-7 months. Boys sometimes a whole year.

Just a couple pics of the finished silkie pen and some comparison pics of how fast these silkies go from the ugly stage to stunning

the rest have all caught up to her already at just 3 months old.
Here are my 6 four week olds seperated by an x pen. They look so small compared to the 3 month olds. Only 8 week difference. It's pretty unbelieveable!

When you cross a vaulted skull hen with a non but poofy skull male will you get vaulted and non vaulted skulled chicks?

I just got back from a week road trip. My chickens are all alive and well, thank goodness!

But, those hatching eggs, a bunch died I"m down to 4 or 5 out of 8. 4 were moving, the 5th wasn't and perhaps has a blood ring, it was too sketchy to tell. BOO. what a bummer! I put more water in the humidity thing this morning. I hope they make it, I'm really nervous about not having the humidity right for silkies. It is the Brinsea mini advance, and that seems to keep the humidity regulated on it's own, but I'm not sure what it keeps it at.
