Well she has a sizzle I'n the cage with her full grown silkies and he doesn't have a nlak beak. And her little week old ones wings are starting to turned out and has a tannish beak? She says the wings are normal

New silkie owner needs help. Please let me know if I got this right?

This is a splash, right? For some reason I want to say it's a painted.

Here is a picture of it's wing. I see some dark feather coming out.

So what did the people think of a chicken selling dog food?

They love him LOL I have only been asked a couple times if he was "in it" LOL The biggest question I get about them though besides "What is it?" is "Do they sell them here?"

My chickens love dog food, and cat food. The only thing that might make some people uncomfortable if it is "Chicken Flavored" dog food.. you might want to note - contains no Silkies!

How do you pay his commission - in mealworms?

I bet he is a huge hit!

Oh yeah, Icelynn is the best though, everyone likes to snuggle with her

I have 4 Silkie chicks that are 8 weeks old. Can anyone possibly tell me their colors and gender. I know gender is a far out stretch, but their colors are so funky. They are out of a Blue Splash Roo, and White Hen. Thanks.

Thanks! I figured that the top 2 are boys, and I'm pretty 100% sure that #2 was a boy. But what would you call their colors, they are so funky.

Both blue =) Just one is lighter.

Sizzles are Cochin with the frizzle gene crossed with silkie Depending on generation of mix they can have straight combs ext mine has white skin and 5 toes she is second generation scroll up for her pic

I see this was awhile ago - but if she has a male Sizzle in the cage - then she probably has Silkies and Sizzles.

When I inadvertently crossed a Silkie Mix with my Silkie rooster I got a bunch of oddball chicks - some had 4 toes, some had white skin, some have normal feathering instead of Silkied.

I also crossed a Silkie and a Sizzle and got Sizzled chicks - but they were "third" generation and all had dark skin (as well as some had curling feathers). Some have Silkied feathers, some have normal feathers. I noticed on most of those their skin was lighter when they were young - but it got darker as they got older.

I would say pick only the ones with dark skin/beak and not the ones with curling looking feathers. Unless you WANT a Sizzle/Silkie. Some Silkie chicks wing's will look like they are a bit curled - but not a lot curled - they are actually split. If you hold the wing open you will see the feathers all lay flat. A Frizzled bird the feathers will all curl away from the body.

Well I ended up getting 3 I will post pictures.
This is the one I'm guessing is white. It doesn't have very good feet feathers at all.. And it's beak is tanish

I'm guessing this one is gray and has better feet feathering

And this one is darker gray but its wings are starting to flair out, thinking it might be a sizzle? Any input? It has really good feet feathering

I'm actually upset that most of the chicks she has had tan beaks and flaired out wings and she said that was normal but there were only a few that didnt have flaired out wings. I am very confused. Especially when there was a frizzle in the grown up pin with the other silkies...
