Silkie thread!

1 fine roo, 1 fine hen, 2 nice PQ hens and 16 eggs! Except NO chicks!!!! A couple of days past hatch time and no chicks I checked the eggs and there were not even embryos in them. 3 were rotten...yes it was QUITE odoriferous but I sat next to the corn field and tossed them after opening a small window to see. I was VERY fortunate that the 3 rotten eggs exploded into the field (I pointed the end I chipped away from me!)

Is my beautiful roo a dud????

I turned the nest boxes upside down so the hens couldn't get back in them after I found that the eggs were bad. How long before they start laying again? Now what???

If you don't show you can try trimming up their bums and eyes

I'm off to pick up the blue catdance roo! yea!!!!!!!!!!

quarantine ideas? I don't know where to quarantine. ahh. I can't see having a rooster in my house!

well, I couldn't figure out anything because my son lives in the basement and we don't have a garage. I trusted the lady who I got him from. I looked him over and he seems healthy, I guess I'm taking my chances on this one.

Moving a bird is stressful, and can bring out illnesses that are kept under control when the bird is not stressed. Those illnesses can pass on to your whole flock. Also - the bird can get sick from what you have in your area, and it is much easier to treat one sick bird than your whole flock.

If you have a large dog crate he can live in that for the quarantine period. You can put one of your birds in with him for company, and to see if she has any bad reactions to what he is carrying, or if he has any reaction to what she is carrying. If you have a carport or any shade outside he can be kept in that area. Better safe than sorry.
