He is a pet quality silkie. Single combs are not uncommon in hatchery birds or sometimes from breeding projects. With red coming in on his white feathering, I would guess he is likely from a paint project...I am looking for information about straight combs in Silkies. I have a gray that turned out to be a rooster but now I can't even use him because he has a straight comb. Do I sell him as a Silkie cross or as a pure Silkie with a defect? He is also getting red coloring to his white feathers. I bought him with another gray Silkie, also a rooster, but the other gray has a walnut comb and no red coloring so I should be able to use him (not sure what color he will produce with my BBS hens).
