Silkie thread!

I wanted to see opinions from you guys on something I have been doing since my little's hatched. Every day, one a day, I put ACV and a couple drops of poly-vi-sol in their water. Occasionally I will pit electrolytes in it also. Since silkies are prone to wry neck and vitamin deficiencies, I didn't think it would hurt to give them a daily vitamin and ACV. I used poultry drench a couple of times when they were sick with the respiratory stuff, but I prefer the poly. Any suggestions or concerns with this?

One thing that I find great is to offer grass clippings at an early age. I make sure there is sand or chick grit available and then cut them some very short clippings, maybe 1/2 inch long and place them in the brooder.

They play "keep away" with them and eat them happily. The "life" they are eating when they eat them is very helpful in my opinion. I feel that this gives them additional nutrition.

I have a question about a silkie I have. I think it is a she but not for sure. It is 7 weeks old and I have had it for less than a week now. I have noticed that (I'm just going to call it a she) she is not as active as she use to be. When I would feed the them meal worms (there is one other silkie her age and five 3 week old orpingtons with her) she would go right ahead and eat them with the others. She doesn't seem to be as active as she was. I would drop crickets for them and she would be the first to grab and run with them. Not so much anymore. Could this be an illness or possibly just a vitamin deficiency? She is eating but I haven't been around to watch to see if she has been drinking or pooping. Should I bring her in and just keep her under close supervision? I would hate to loose her. She is such a sweetheart.

Sounds like Coccidia, I would run some Corid thru her ASAP it can kill quick.

At the feed store in the cattle section 9.6% oral solution give 9.5cc per gallon water change daily. If she's not drinking may have to give her some by putting drops on her peak with a dropper.

I hate that she picked this up. I have been SO careful with them so they were kept clean as well as their food and water. Will it be safe to give the others the medication in the water even if they may not have it? I appreciate your help!
