Silkie thread!

Yes Mr Silver Britches is the lighter one and Clyde the better looking af the dark. I also named the black frizzle Bonnie. So I have Bonnie, Clyde, Carmella, Fefe(not sure on the spelling, but the White Sizzle needs something French.) And Mr Silver Britches. My friend who came with me is going to take the other two. I just decided the other day when I took the pics who was going to be Clyde. She is the one who hatched Fefe and Bonnie.

I use this site often...here is the category of French names. There is also a category for color names. And LOTS of other categories.

I read somewhere that pine needles work well because they are water proof. I didn't put anything down to see how fasted it dried out. When it flooded in November i had just put down pine shavings. They were still a wet muddy mess when we moved the coop this week.

Hey guys..
my silkie roo chick whose 11 weeks old I was wanting to get him a chicken diaper but idk how much more growing he has . He is already close to mu hens size. He's a hair smaller. He prefers indoors over out. I introduced him to my hen who pecked him and I usually let him outside and my rooster got out and attacked him and chasing him about.

anyways... Where should I buy a chicken diaper from? I made my own bit it won't last at all

what size should I buy?

I'd like one I can adjust as well.
any help would be great

I have a question.

I just went out to check on the chickens and noticed Mystery, one of my blue roos has some white streaks forming on his face behind his eyes (he looks like a distinguished gentleman with greying temples) his hackles and in the hard feathers of his wings. I admit that I haven't picked him up much lately, since he's rather suspicious of gloves, but these streaks weren't present a month ago. He hasn't grown any feathers since fall, so what would cause this bit of white to suddely appear? He's a pet and I have no plans on breeding him, so it doesn't matter if he does have some streaks. I'm just curious as to what brought them on so suddenly.

Sorry there is no picture, but my digital camera died and my cell phone camera doesn't take good pictures either in the coop or the snow.

hmmm.....maybe its just discoloring. my he gets strange random brown spots, and shes a splash.

it may be his streamers just now coming in....but if he is older that's juat a bit strange.

I would like to know what other BYC'rs think of this.

I have a Welsummer Roo who has just recently grown white feathers on the back of his head.

We put 3 broody girls back with our big flock yesterday. It was -12 at night around the time the chicks hatched so we brought the mamas in. This is the two silkies that are co-parenting 4 chicks. (2 legbars, 2 blue ameracauna)
