Silkie thread!

You have got to have some of the prettiest Silkies I have seen. They are beautiful..

Are hatching silkies harder or something? I've hatched other breeds with great success.

got 6 eggs .. 2 died . 1 ok after a bit of complication. The other two haven't even pipped. See movement but that's all. There due today. One egg peeping but lat night is when it pipped. No progress tho

the new chick its vault skull looks a bit lopsided. So idk

We incubated a few silkie/sizzle eggs from our flock. These little punkins hatched this weekend. Almost too fluffy!

Is there such a thing as "too fluffy"? I have a couple from my last hatch that are fuzz balls - much fluffier than most of my other chicks. Can too much fluff be a problem?

can anyone tell me if they are male or female yet? I'm hoping 1 of each I have named the Dark one ( male I hope ) Beethoven.
And the ( female I hope ) buff colored one Roxy.
Do you think I need to rename them?

How old are they? They look pretty young yet to be sure, but right now it looks like both might be boys.

Yes I do and he's going tomorrow. Well it's today now but he's going. I gave him a rubber mat to walk on and he is liking it. He don't have hardly as much trouble walking when he's on the mat. He has stayed on it for about 4 hours and he just now wandered off of it. He started sliding so he is making his way back to his mat. When he sits down to rest or sleep he sits on his fanny with his legs out in front of him. He's not hanging his wings anymore either. He even attempted to crow this morning so he must be feeling better. He still needs some kind of vitamin. I really feel it's a deficiancy of some vitamin and I don't have any. So hopefully the vet does. If not it's wally world I go to get some poly vi sol with out iron. He is still eating and drinking good and I still have him on antibiotics just in case. It's pretty much all I have. I do have some vita pro B and another one I can't think of the name of it is that I was giving an internal layer to keep her going as long as I could. I also have some human vitamin E gel tabs. I'll take it with me to show the vet and ask if it's ok to give to a roo.
Here he is sitting on his mat a few hours ago and him a couple days ago standing up

He sleeps in this position with his head laying down in front of him between his feet and when he's in his cage he lays his head on his food dish. He's pretty smart. When he was a few weeks old he stopped eating and I tube fed him for a month till he started eating on his own. He's been fine till this past week.

What a sweetie - sounds like he has had a few issues. He's very worth a vet visit and sounds like you are doing your best with him.

Your babies are adorable too! I just find that when they are ultra fluffy they have issues. Not being brave enough to go out and get food as much as other chicks. Mine have super fluffy little beards already and I've had to trim them. They just couldn't see with feathers in/around their eyes constantly.

The goss hawk took one of these today, now momma only has one.

And they were having such fun ' dirt bathing ' with her.

I had a chick that found a hair net on my table to take a dust bath in - cutest thing! Another chick decided to dust bathe on the chicken rooster mat in the kitchen. Neither one had a momma to show them how it's done - just natural instinct I guess.
