Silkie thread!

Ok so after EXTENSIVE care I think my silkie is going to make it. I have been waiting to see if she would pull through before posting anymore on her. ( Never get my hopes up lol). The only problem was that because she has been down and out for so long, she has no leg strength at all. She tries to stand up and ends up with her chest on the ground and her tail flapping in the wind, and completely flips over on her back. Head first. Now I know I am with people who love there feathered fowl friends just as much as I do, so I am sharing this in confidence with you guys. She has as of today underwent her first round of physical therapy.

if you could find light weight materials, you could probably make her a walker so you don't have to hold her up.

She got pecked on her crest in the soft spot, then was severely dehydrated by the time we found her. My wife took straight to her and has been nursing her ever since. It was her idea to use the scarf. She's wonderful with them :) hopefully all her hard work will pay off.

Good on you, there should be more of it. I would give her Epsom salt soaks and while you've got her legs in the warm water massage them. Are you giving her a multi vitamin?

I have a concern. My DH went on a 2 week trip. I am taking care of all the animals. Included in that is Buff the Builder our Buff Silkie that loves to hang with DH even with the power tools going. Buff has been sleeping a ton and just not himself the pat several day. He is sleeping most of the time and is not doing much of anything. I am worried since normally Buff is the first one out of the Silkie house every day. Am I being silly thinking Buff may be depressed or should I be concerned. I have Buff in a "brooder" in my bedroom to keep a close eye on him. I know I am spoiling him, but this is my husband's favorite. His sebright went missing a few weeks ago and now this with the Silkie.

These things always happen when they go away. Have a good look at his poop. I would be concerned about worms as Subhanalah said. Another would be coccocidiosis . As you have him quarantined it shouldn't be too hard to get a good sample.
