Silkie thread!

I have a problem. Has anyone else had issues with their paint silkie chicks not thriving? I have a few really nice chicks about a week old and they are weak and I think I'm going to lose them. I have tried sugar water but I'm not sure what else to try or do for them. Only my paint chicks are having this issue. Can anyone help?

I have not had paint Silkies but I wonder if this isn't a genetic issue? Are the chicks from the same pair or are they too far inbred?

My adult birds are non related. I have a roo from Martha Light and I got my black hens from a lady close by. I have previous chicks from the paint roo and the black hens but not the 2 together. I have 2 that are doing great but the younger ones are not.

It still could be a genetic problem with those two together. Or of course coccidosis etc. What are their symptoms?

It could be a few things, you will need to examine them and check their poop. Make sure the vent is clear, pasty butt kills.

Here is "lucky" the Sizzle Roo... He spends some of his days outside with the others but has been spending a lot of time indoors. He is a sweetheart of a chicken. Hopefully he will stay that way.

No pasty butts. Fresh food and water daily. No bloody poops and they are in the house. I did go ahead and put them on corid to be safe. I lost one paint last night and a black from paint isn't doing well this morning.

Are the parent chickens on the same diet as everyone else? Are they in the pen with others that have produced healthy chicks?

ETA- I lost so many chicks this year it was INSANE! Switched feed, & they started doing great!!

I have 3 pens, one for each roo. They all have 4 to 5 hens with them. I had my black roo with the black hens and have nice healthy chicks growing out now. I wanted to start my paint pen and switched the roos around. I hatched out 3 paint and 3 black from paint chicks all were strong and doing great till a few days ago. All the parents are on the same feed and the chicks are on a grower crumble. They are in the house away from the adults so they aren't being picked on. I don't know what to do, always had good luck with chicks till this year and trying to raise paints and paint sizzles.
