That's a black... your 1st pic looked like she has some leakage, or was that just the pic?

Leakage? Not sure what you mean, if you mean nostril drainage..nope. Clean nostrils. Maybe you meant from the back end..nope. Solid poops. I was just looking to see what kind of silkie she might be bcuz she doesn't have the big head poof. I have two silkies, that came from the same place, but they look very different from each other.

This is the other one. Larger body, feathers coming out of her beak, wide frame, shorter legs. She's odd looking but a total sweetheart!

We actually thought she was a rooster, so we named her Roo. Then she started laying eggs...so her name is "RooBerri"

Is mine a partridge? I was curious why she never grew a larger poof on her head.

No, I am talking about color leakage, lol... sorry... :)

In this pic it looks like there is gold color in her neck area, or is it just reflection?

@katatonic123 as soon as i seen the umbrella i knew i had to have it for the chickens. Theres a hawk thats been eyeballing them and theres no shade for a few hrs in their run during the day. They spend lots of time under that umbrella.

Ok so here's a color question for you....

I hatched 5 silkie eggs from ebay and would like to start breeding them next spring. I have 1 buff roo, 1 black roo, and 1 gray roo. Then i have 1 black and one grey hen. I also have a white roo and hen from another source i want to keep.

I only want to keep 1 more rooster. Which color should i keep???

Depends what you are trying to achieve. White is unpredictable , so if you like surprises breeding white to any colour will give you any number of combinations.
Personally , I would put a black roo to your black and grey hen. The quality of the bird should also be taken into consideration , feet feathering , shape and size of comb etc.

I may have to invest in one. Mine are the same way. There is just a certain part of the day where shade is almost nonexistent and since school is starting and I'll be back at work they won't be able to sit under the bushes and vehicles all afternoon. I have a plan for next year but it's too late in the year to put it in place this summer. Where did you find your umbrella?
