Silkie thread!

I have a question about silkies. Are there two different sizes? I have always seen them listed as bantams. But, I have seen a lot of silkies that are larger than what I would consider a bantam at the poultry shows.

Also for spring 2016 does anyone have recommendations for bantam size bearded silkie eggs? or is it just a chance it on the size?

The U.K. has both LF and bantam Silkies. Feathersite.com shows the size differences standing next to each other. There's possibly some LF owners in the U.S. but mostly it's the bantam Silkies sold in the U.S - there are also bearded and non-bearded types which are accepted.

I'm needing help this will be my second time incubating silkie eggs an non have been a successful hatch I'll be getting more eggs Wednesday an I want to have a hatch my temp is at 99.5 an humidity is at 50% an lockdown is 65% am I doing somthing wrong? Im going off of the Internet are silkie eggs different for incubating? Any info would be greatly appreciated I'm really wanting this batch to be a good hatch!!

The temp sounds good. So does the humidity. Have you ordered from the same breeder both times?

For the silkie eggs yes

Have you checked for fertility? Are they developing and ' quitting ' ?

There was 5 out of a dozen that was fertile 2 was Developed but didn't hatch others stopped .

Took this yesterday, how proud does he look today lol , what age will I expect him to start crowing? It really is breaking my heart having to find him another home

The one I posted above's legs are so much bigger/thicker then the ones I have what I think are pullets, is that another sign of a cockerel?

There are many things that can impact your hatch rate. Have you calibrated the incubator to be sure that the readings are accurate ?
This article has everything you need to know. I keep it bookmarked and find it good for ' trouble shooting '.
I think it would be wise for you to read through it before you set the next batch.

Wanted: white and other silkie hens

Please help! I'm looking for bearded silkie hens, I had one white that just passed and now her buff buddy is lonely!!! I'm hoping to find some close by but if your willing to ship I can go that rout! I would like at least two hopefully around 6 mo. to a year in age!!! If you know of any or are selling any please send me a message! (east Idaho, Idaho Falls area) $5-$20 dollars is my price range
