@zookeepersgirl @Roada Red They will be 3 weeks on Sunday. I just went to check on them and they are all fast asleep. I'm excited for when I can take them out and sit with all of them, right now I can only handle 1 at a time as they are fairly skittish yet.

Yes the roo has gold leakage. Well that will be very interesting to see yellow chicks turn blue! A couple of the chicks do have grayish/bluish parts but primarily yellow.

Either that or your paint is laying.

Hi! (Haven't been on in a while)
My silkies have grown quite a bit, i'm super happy cause none appear to be white, they look buff to me, but i'm not sure, any ideas?
This is jade she has buff and grey feathers it looks like to me.

Here is Twix she looks smaller (not sure if that's her age cause I got them both in the same bin/not really a bin, that said they were a day old) in the beginning I was worried cause twix's feathers looked to be getting whiter now they have gone orange.

(Yes, there is a coconut shell in the background, I use it to scoop grain)

Does anyone have an idea of what color these chicks might grow up to be?

I believe so. We got them from a family friend who has supplied us eggs for the past year.

Question: I've got a silkie rooster that I am planning on breeding to my naked neck pullet, at least I was planning on it until I noticed that his 4th and 5th toes are not separate at all. So, he essentially has only 4 toes, with one being huge because it should be 2 toes. Better not to use him, or does it matter if I'm going to have to breed the chicks back to a different full-blood silkie in the next generation to get silkie feathering back (at least I think that's how it works?). Basically, I'd like to try making my own showgirls is the long-term goal. Should I use a rooster who has flawed feet in the first generation?
