Silkie thread!

What color is the chick in the middle?? I believe this is what I got when I ordered blue or grey.

Boys have been successfully rehomed (and apparently surrounded by plenty of bachelorettes) and I kept our one girl. I picked up two New Hampshire Red girls on Monday, I believe they're about 10 weeks old (they're still in 'peep peep' stage). I was a bit worried about how they'd all get along but I went to check on them a bit after bedtime last night to find this:

They were all purring in their sleep until nosy Mama woke them up!

Yes, the chick had correct toes and skin color. It's a silkie but I ordered blue and grey and didn't order a partridge, hmm. I thought it might be partridge. But what in the world would make them send me partridge instead of the blue or grey solids that I ordered.

I got some buff chicks awhile back and one is darker then the rest, ill try and snap a picture tomorrow. Oh and I had some new chicks hatch today and it looks like I finally succeeded in getting an eft from my silkies to hatch!

I have 4 silkies that are 8 weeks old and oh how I love them. I think people at work think I am crazy because I talk about them so much. I am trying to only talk about them with other chicken lovers.

When they got old enough to go into their house outside they had no idea how to use their ramp so I spent a few days teaching them. What a riot. I felt it was too steep for them so my husband changed the slope and added to it. They caught on quickly and the smallest one loves playing on it. She goes up and down it like a little kid would the stairs. So funny.

Funny you mention using the coop ramp. Happened to take these pics yesterday of the Silkies toodling around before going into the coop for the evening - they mill around and coo to each other for half an hour or so and savor the last moments of the evening before slowly ascending the ladder ramp. We had to prop up the level of the ramp that came with the coop - otherwise it was too steep for the littles and they had to flap wings to get a running start. Now they can leisurely ascend the ladder to pause, talk to each other, and continue their leisurely stroll:
